Class Description
Oil Painting Basics – 4-Week Class with Marie Blocker Fridays, September 4–25 | 2:15–4pm Discover the fundamentals of painting with oils in this approachable four-week course. Marie will guide students through essential techniques, including foundational practices, underpainting, building details, composition and guiding the eye, color theory and mixing, and creating dimension with light and shadow. Students will practice these skills while painting florals and landscapes. Step-by-step instruction makes this class a great fit for both beginners and intermediate painters. Students Bring: Oil Paints: Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red Medium, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Viridian Green, Burnt Sienna, Titanium White, and Ivory Black. Brushes: #10 flat, #6 filbert, and #2 round. Additional Supplies: Gamsol (odorless thinner), Liquin Original, a small jar for Gamsol, a roll of paper towels, linseed oil, and a metal palette knife.
