Kids and Family Watercolors Miss Kara Saturdays 1-2pm 6 weeks June 20 - August 1 (no class on July 4) All ages but geared toward ages 6 and up. Artist learn wet on wet, dry on dry, basic drawing and painting with watercolors plus some fun projects! All Materials included, missed class will be given a take home project. *Classes occur on the second floor and while we do not have an elevator, teacher assistance is available if you have trouble climbing stairs. Family Watercolor Adventure – 6 Week Series Join artist Kara for a fun and imaginative watercolor class designed especially for kids and families! This beginner-friendly 6-week series introduces young artists to the magical world of watercolor through playful techniques, creative projects, and hands-on exploration. Students will learn: Wet-on-wet watercolor painting Dry brush techniques Color mixing and rainbow blending Splatter and texture effects Blotting and lifting color Brush control and layering Creating light, shadows, and simple backgrounds How to paint fun subjects like animals, flowers, landscapes, and imaginative scenes Each class encourages creativity, confidence, and self-expression in a relaxed and supportive environment where kids can experiment, make colorful messes, and enjoy the process of creating art. Weekly Focus Weeks 1–2: Getting comfortable with watercolor basics! Students will explore how water and paint work together while practicing color mixing, brush techniques, textures, and fun beginner exercises. Weeks 3–4: Building skills through playful projects including nature scenes, animals, florals, skies, and dreamy watercolor effects while learning layering and blending techniques. Weeks 5–6: Creating finished paintings with more personal creativity and storytelling. Students will combine the techniques they’ve learned to create unique watercolor masterpieces they’ll be proud to take home. Perfect for beginner artists, creative kids, homeschool groups, and families looking for a fun and encouraging artistic experience together. Kara is a local artist who loves helping kids explore creativity in a fun, relaxed, and encouraging environment. Her classes focus on imagination, confidence-building, and learning real art techniques through playful hands-on projects.
