The Ceramic Initiative 2027

A weekend, three legends, endless clay:

This isn't your average class — it's three days of studio access (9:30am – 4:30pm, plus 24-hour access all weekend) with three nationally known ceramic artists, each bringing their own specialty:
 

• Mark Epstein - Translucent Table Lamps. Throw, alter, and slab-build to take full advantage of the glow of our translucent Frost clay. Lamp hardware included. You'll leave with a finished piece that lights up.
   

• Randy Brodnax - Alternative Firing. Spend a day with a true national treasure, exploring fuming with oxides, clear and white crackle, and naked raku. Randy decides what's on the docket that day — that's part of the magic. Bring up to 6 pots (max 9" tall, 6" wide, fired to cone 08) — no plates or bowls, please. Can't bring your own? Pots are available for purchase on-site.
   

• Pat Johnson - Figurative & Small-Scale Sculpture. Build small self-portraits and figures using coil, slab, and attached appendages, while exploring the ideas and stories that matter to you. All skill levels welcome! Pat will walk you through personal style, emotional expression, and hand-forming techniques, plus her signature surface decorating tricks.

The extras that make us a community:

• Day 1 mug exchange - bring a handmade mug to trade with another artist

• Potluck lunch, every day - bring a side (salads, dips, cold cuts, crackers) and we'll all eat well together

• Saturday night Artist's Talk & Dinner (5–7pm) included in your ticket; bring a guest for $35
